Responsible Cleaning
Emerging from our own experience while working through LEED-EB certification at our World HQ facilities in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, was the development of a comprehensive approach to facility hygiene and care called Healthy High Performance Cleaning (HHPC). First and foremost, HHPC focuses on the health of building occupants and the cleaning staff as well as the reduced impact the products and procedures have on the environment, both indoors and outdoors.
HHPC starts with quality environmentally preferable chemicals. It goes well beyond chemicals, however, and provides environmentally preferable cleaning strategies, procedures, training, and purchasing guidelines for consumables, tools and equipment. For those who work in organizations that place high strategic value on the ongoing sustainable operations of your buildings, HHPC can help earn up to 14 points under the LEEDTM for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) green building rating system.
Responsible Stewardship
Stewards of the Earth long before it was fashionable
A letter from S. Curtis Johnson, Chairman
I come from a family with a long legacy of environmental leadership.
My grandfather was a respected conservationist and my father was a founding member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
I am personally committed to ensuring that everything we do today honors that legacy. Which is why I am so proud to serve on the board of directors for the World Wildlife Fund, supporting the preservation of the world’s most sensitive ecosystems.
Our family companies have been taking this approach well before anyone used the term “green.” This history makes our current commitments all the more meaningful.
As our world grows ever more interconnected, as populations increase and the stress on our planet’s ecosystems grows, so does the need to continuously reduce our impact on the environment.
Diversey will continue to advance its environmental performance by improving our products, by helping our customers improve their environmental profile, and by actively engaging in the global environmental dialogue.
We will lead with other forward-thinking companies and organizations to seek human progress while sustaining the natural balance and beauty of our planet.
This is the right course to take. It has been our path for five generations and is the only one that will leave a legacy for future generations.

Responsible Manufacturing
In all the countries where we operate, we continuously work to improve our
environmental performance. At all our facilities worldwide we measure five key
criteria on a quarterly basis: water use, energy use, hazardous waste,
non-hazardous waste, and waste water.
We set annual targets that push us to use less and to waste less. Our efforts have been extremely successful, with some sites actually approaching an aggregate level of zero waste per production ton.
Our record of environmental accomplishment has been internationally recognized. Various facilities have earned achievements that include:
• Pennsylvania Governor’s Environmental Award
• Admission to EPA Performance Track Program
• ISO 9002 Certification in North America
• ISO 14000 Environmental Management Certification in Europe
• ISO 14000 Environmental Management Certification in Japan
In Japan we also are recognized for achievements in waste minimization and re-use.
Our development of a process that converts waste sludge into an
ingredient for making cement is one such example. The process significantly reduces the amount of incineration and landfill disposal.
All of these accomplishments are merely the beginning of our ongoing commitment to achieve the highest standards of environmental excellence at all our facilities.
