Paint & Powder Coating Pretreatment

Are you looking to reduce water usage, reduce chemical cost, lower energy consumption, improve salt spray results, extend bath life, or even possibly eliminate steps in your pretreatment process?

DuBois has a team of engineers, chemists, applications specialists, and field technologists waiting to help. Whether you are preparing your parts for coating by hand, or through a multimillion dollar system, we will be able to help ease your mind and take some the pressure off that comes with running any pretreatment process.

DuBois Five Step Approach will help you meet your customers’ standards for high quality.

Our Complete Line of Paint & Powder Coating Pretreatment Products Include:

  • A wide selection of cleaners
  • Iron phosphate for recirculating spray, immersion, pressure, & steam wand
  • Zinc phosphate for recirculating spray and immersion
  • Nonchrome final seals
  • Zirconium and other phosphate-free pretreatment options

SecureÒ iron phosphatizing products in conjunction with DuBois metal cleaners and patented final sealing rinses have been proven to provide over 1000 hours salt spray resistance with many paints and powder coatings. Additionally, DuBois has systems tailored specifically for preparing non-ferrous metals such as; aluminum, galvanized steel, galvanneal, and zinc diecast for coating(s).

DuBois LINK treatment products are widely used in the market to dramatically increase salt spray corrosion resistance and enhance coating adhesion. By LINKing the resin in the paint to the surface of the metal, we enhance the performance of your finished good. In many instances, facilities have been able to eliminate the iron phosphate step of their pretreatment process when incorporating LINK chemistry.

Perma-GardÒ zinc phosphating provides heavy, light, or microcrystalline zinc phosphate conversion coatings. Our highly trained and experienced team can analyze your zinc phosphatizing needs and develop a plan of action to improve and enhance your zinc conversion coating processes. System performance appraisals are available free of charge. In addition for prepaint, DuBois offers zinc phosphates for rubber to metal bonding, rust inhibition, and cold forming zinc applications.

DuraTec 100 is a zirconium metal pretreatment replacement for iron phosphate. It is low-foaming, reduces sludge and scale, and minimizes the amount of maintenance required to operate at peak effiency. It is part of the Zirconization Process that helps protect the environment as a green alternative to phosphate.

FIVE STEP APPROACH TO SUCCESSFUL PRETREATMENT

DuBois recognizes that every cleaning and pretreatment operation in unique. We don’t provide "off the self" recommendations. Through our comprehensive five step approach, every DuBois program is custom engineered to meet individual in-plant conditions. Since 1920, we have provided the right products and programs backed by superior technical expertise and local service. DuBois comprehensive Five Step Approach to successful Cleaning & Pretreatment yields total operational performance.

1. Audit

Minimizing your total process cost begins with a thorough audit of your manufacturing process…from incoming raw materials and stock, through final shipment. With your help, the team identifies, isolates, and defines the necessary process variables. This first vital step sets the stage for complete accurate process recommendations.

2. Prescreen Product Alternatives

Experienced applications engineers at the DuBois Technical Center, review your existing operation and process parts through state-of-the-art applications equipment, simulating your in-plant operating conditions.

3. Recommendations

Your DuBois representative will detail the proposed program, which may include procedural, mechanical, chemical and service recommendations. Advanced integrated solutions such as:

  • Online monitoring
  • Automated titration product concentration control
  • Makeup water treatment
  • Bath life extending sidestream filtration
  • Microfiltration

4. Implementation

In this critical stage, the "best fit" program is implemented. With special emphasis on minimizing disruptions, the cross-functional team works to get production up and running. The appropriate DuBois and co-supplier personnel will be on site to supervise the installation.

5. Service

To ensure total operational performance and process cost minimization, our local representatives follow a mutually agreeable service schedule. On each service call we evaluate existing conditions and recommend any steps necessary to maintain optimum results. Written or electronic service reports are provided on every service call.
