Normally, what type of coverage do you get from your products?
A medium coat of floor finish usually covers 2000 square feet. A gallon of floor finish stripper dilution usually strips 250 square feet. A gallon of floor cleaner dilution usually cleans 1000 square feet.
How often should I be stripping my floors? Only when truly necessary! Stripping floor finish from a floor is a very labor intensive job that a good maintenance program should try to minimize. The keys to extending the strip cycle are good daily maintenance and routine re-coating of high traffic areas. With today's quality floor finishes and a good maintenance system, it is realistic to go years between strip-outs.
Should I put floor finish on all of my hard floor surfaces? Not on all surfaces. Do not put floor finish on exterior surfaces, nor surfaces that are routinely wet or greasy (e.g. institutional kitchen floors). Also, avoid putting floor finish on glazed ceramic, polished marble or polished granite surfaces
How many coats of finish and seal do I need to put on a stripped floor? We usually recommend 2-3 coats of seal and 3-4 coats of finish. We believe it is important to establish a good base of finish. This is an important step in extending the strip-cycle.
Do you recommend burnishing between coats? Normally this is not necessary.
I have installed a new linoleum floor. Do I need to do anything special to this floor? Firstly, many people confuse sheet vinyl flooring with linoleum. Sheet vinyl has excellent chemical resistance and can be maintained with conventional techniques. True linoleum is less chemical resistant and can sometimes be damaged by strong chemicals, such as floor finish strippers. We recommend you avoid using floor finish stripper on true linoleum floors.
