The chlorine dioxide advantage

Chlorine dioxide displays superior performance over other biocides by effective penetration of biofilms with an associated increased antimicrobial effect.

Whilst chlorine dioxide needs to be generated on site, its neutral or acidic dilute aqueous solutions are stable if kept cool, well sealed and protected from sunlight.

Chlorine dioxide is a good antimicrobial agent at very low concentrations (<1 ppm), has good virucidial and sporicidal properties and is also effective against

biofilms. Chlorine dioxide is a more selective oxidant than other options, effectively cleaning protein molecule disulfide bonds. Chlorine dioxide doesn't hydrolyze into electrical current carrying ions that accelerate corrosion.

Closure is an antimicrobial which is produced on site through a unique generating and dispensing mechanism, providing chlorine dioxide that is suitable for use in all food, beverage and dairy industries.

Closure is a differentiated approach to the generation of chlorine dioxide solutions, making this technology inherently safer and more secure to distribute, dose and control for a wide range of applications, at varying volumes and concentrations. While based on acidchlorite reaction, the system does not require direct mixing of concentrated chemical precursors.

Where can I apply CloSure technology?

Water Treatment

Unlike chlorine or ozone, chlorine dioxide does not oxidize bromide, therefore water treatment with chlorine dioxide will not transform bromide ion into hypobromite and will not give rise to the formation of bromoform (CHBr3) or bromate. A common application of chlorine dioxide in drinking water has been for control of tastes and odours associated with algae and decaying vegetation. Chlorine dioxide is also effective in destroying taste and odour producing phenolic compounds. Chlorine dioxide can also be used to oxidize and remove both iron

(II) and manganese (II).

CIP Sanitation

A 2-4 ppm disinfectant solution can be circulated safely through CIP circuits to give consistent microbial results with the advantage of removing processbiofilms too.

Solution can also be reclaimed to save the residual chlorine dioxide and to prevent wasting active disinfectant solutions.

Track Treatment

Ability to use the same general rinse-water concentration (0.1-0.3 ppm), as is used throughout the plant, or to enhance bio control and hygiene on packing lines by using higher concentration.

Track Treatment Vegetable Washing and Bottle Washing/ Rinsing

Ability to use the same general rinse-water concentration (0.1-0.3 ppm), as is used throughout the plant for potable water rinsing, or higher concentrations where greater antimicrobial activity is required.
