Closure, the advantages
The chlorine dioxide advantage
Chlorine dioxide displays superior performance over other biocides by effective penetration of biofilms with an associated increased antimicrobial effect.
Whilst chlorine dioxide needs to be generated on site, its neutral or acidic dilute aqueous solutions are stable if kept cool, well sealed and protected from sunlight.
Chlorine dioxide is a good antimicrobial agent at very low concentrations (<1 ppm), has good virucidial and sporicidal properties and is also effective against
biofilms. Chlorine dioxide is a more selective oxidant than other options, effectively cleaning protein molecule disulfide bonds. Chlorine dioxide doesn't hydrolyze into electrical current carrying ions that accelerate corrosion.
• Effective against the broadest range of microorganisms
• More effective than chlorine and other antimicrobials at inactivating viruses, bacteria, spores, yeast and mould and protozoa
• Controls taste and odours caused by algae and decaying vegetation
• Less affected by soil than other biocides
• The bactericidal efficiency is relatively unaffected by pH values between 4 and 10
• Chlorine dioxide is superior to chlorine in the destruction of spores, bacterias, viruses and other pathogen organisms on an equal residual base
• Required contact time is lower than alternative options
• Chlorine dioxide has better biofilm penetration ability than other biocides
• There are minimal corrosion concerns associated with CloSure generated chlorine dioxide
• No THM formation
• No chlorination of phenols
• Efficient oxidation of iron and manganese
• Less affected by organic load than chlorine
• More advantages for direct contact food disinfection application - poultry, red meat, fish, vegetables
• Approved for many applications - including with drinking water
• Approved for no-rinse application - FDA
• Only drinking water disinfectant able to remove Legionella biofilm without system shutdown
A chlorine dioxide installation will revolutionise operational performance at your plant.
